Episode #83 - The Number 23
The Number 23 represents a lot of things. Basketball excellence. The number of licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop. The reason for murder. All great things, on the surface, until you dig a little deeper. That’s when you find out that EVERYTHING in your life is The Number 23. It’s the reason for the sun, the moon, the weird thoughts you think we don’t know about (we know). It’s also the reason for this episode, it’s a terrible movie starring Jim Carey. Nick, Stephen and special guest Shelbey continually banter and get maniacally deep into one of Jim Carey’s few stinkers. They talk superstitions, Nick does what he’s best at (all the things he’s terrible at), and they talk for 23 minutes about the movie and 46 about absolutely anything else.
*Production note: This podcast has no liability if this episodes drives you literally insane*
Episode #82 - Biodome
The mental toll being taken during this isolation series can be accurately represented by this week's episode, Bio-Dome. The quarantine crazy has set in and the guys did a Pauly Shore vehicle, because, you know, 4-20 20-20 BROS! The guys talk Pauly Shore, the terrible career choice this was for every other actor, and take 5-20 minutes to explain this movie, all while reading "bible verses". They also make the stretch connection for Top 5 Biopics and Nick is still so bad at accents and impressions he can't even do Pauly Shore. The fact shack and fact corners also make an appearance, not that anyone cares.
Episode #81 - Bubble Boy
"But I’m a Bubble Man!" Stephen yells into the void, still in isolation… The days are getting longer and the virus more fierce. Our only chance is to retreat deeper into quarantine and for inspiration we decided to do the HALL OF FAMER, Bubble Boy (2001)! Part 3 of the isolation series and the last ever podcast in the Shredquarters the guys (and Kyle, for a final time… until this is over) dig into one of Jake Gyllenhaal’s worst (best) movies of all time... Nick tries to start his Jake Gyllenhaal podcast (unsuccessfully), they debut a new feature called enemies of the podcast (there’s a lot) and Kyle hardly ever talks (as usual). They also do Top 5 Jake G movies, and have a tear-ridden wake and eulogy for the Shredquarters… may it’s next renters always know the magic that happened there.
Episode #80 - Warning Sign
You’re on day ?? of the Coronavirus and you’ve already rewatched Contagion, Outbreak, and A Bug’s Life. Since we’re only allowed to watch germ movies or Tiger King (crazy right?), you need something else to get your weird fix! We’ve got the answer for you, 1980-something’s Warning Sign. This movie should have tipped us off decades ago that virus movies are TERRIBLE, and this one may be the most infected of them all. A film starring Sam Waterston, the rich dad from Billions and the mean guy from other movies, Warning Sign could have been great if it wasn’t for the fact that it was made. In our second of the possibly never ending Isolation Series, Nick and Stephen (and Kyle… who is now out of the pod. Contagion pod, not podcast), wade deep into infected laboratories to discuss proper lab conduct, how not to film a fight scene, AND PROTOCOL (WE MUST FOLLOW PROTOCOL!). Feel free to listen to this without watching the movie because this podcast will be punishment enough.
Episode #79 - Leprechaun
Irish accents are back on the table! Did you miss St. Patrick’s Day in quarantine? Well, celebrate with us all over again with Leprechaun! In the first episode of the what will now be the Isolation Series, Nick and Stephen, while staying socially distant, dig into Jennifer Aniston’s film debut, talk Top 5 leprechauns of all time (There’s not that many famous Leprechauns!), and discuss the theme of the movie which must have been modes of transportation. They also dig into the genre bowl and create what will soon most likely be turned into blockbuster hits of Leprechaun lore. Come for the gold, but stay for the gold… BECAUSE I’M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT ME GOLD!
Episode #78 - The Fanatic
What does a Moose, Fred Durst, and a mullet have in common? They all are in love with Junior from Little Giants. WE’RE YOUR BIGGEST FANS! It’s Reel Rotten’s Razzie episode and for some reason it’s now a tradition to watch John Travolta’s latest disaster. This one being The Fanatic, a movie directed by Fred Durst. Yes, THAT Fred Durst. Have we seen worse movies? Maybe. Have any made us hate ourselves as much as this movie? No, definitely not. Watch this film and then listen to Stephen and Nick progressively lose their shit over an hour and a half. Just like Travolta, they spiral early and often!
Episode #77 - Leap Year
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years…. until we have to watch Leap Year again! The best things happen every 4 years, The World Cup, The Olympics, Nick’s cool uncle visits him, but the best among these is Leap Day. Until they made this movie. MADE DURING A NON LEAP YEAR, this movie almost single-handedly destroyed Ireland by itself. Starring Amy Adams at the peak of her powers, its frankly shocking this movie was made. WE DON’T GET IT! The guys and their roommate Isaac dive deep into this strange strange premise, and Nick does his “very good” Irish accent, too much, it’s actually a pirate accent. He is the worst.
Episode #76 - Valentine's Day
9 storylines. 22 movie stars. 2 completely forgettable hours. That's Valentine's Day in a nutshell. Rach joins us for our annual Valentine's Day episode, and like this movie, it's long, overly complicated, and just generally confusing. They discusses everything from which Jennifer is the best, what is George Lopez doing on the bridge, to who is the hottest couple in the movie! We really, really, hated this movie.
