Oscar season is over, and here is our annual celebration of the movies that don't cause us ulcers. It's our Fresh Episode! This year we were joined by our friend Adam and our roommate Isaac and we covered everything from drunkest movie of the year to the horniest. We do our Top 10s and just like the movies we hate, it took us two hours to say nothing.
Bad boys, bad boys. Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when we podcast (Bad Boys) two! That's right, the boys break bad and discuss a sequel with so much violence and so many car chases that it makes 2 Fast 2 Furious look like 2 Calm 2 Contented. In their first Michael Bay movie the guys discuss rats and their procreating habits, whether Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were the OG Kevin Hart and The Rock, and CATS! So whether you're trying to take your mind off the Super Bowl or celebrate it there's no better way than listening to a podcast about Miami in general, and one of the greatest sequels of all time.
New Year, same ole Cats podcast! There's no better way to kick off 2020 than to watch the most ridiculous movie of the year, Cats! Stephen and Nick with the help of Kitty Kyle and Kjax break down their long awaited favorite theater experience of the year in excruciating detail… and do so singing 95% of the time. The boys discuss whether the movie is sexual or horny (two different things), which Cats they are, and they write their own movie musicals featuring an animal. In the last Christmas episode of the year (and last of the decade) the boys dissect the classic story of the Nutcracker. You know, the one where Einstein volunteers his niece to lead a creepy puppet in a battle against a legion of Nazi Rats! We cannot understate the craziness of this film. In one of our favorite podcasts we've ever done, the boys (and Kyle... and Kjax) dig deep into just how Nazi the rats were, how insane anyone was to make this movie, and their top 5 Christmas musicals (Muppets Christmas Carol). OH YEAH, THIS MOVIE ADDED LYRICS TO THE NUTCRACKER BALLET!
You ever black out and wake up in the middle of the desert wearing a Santa suit glued to every part of your body? Us too, which is why we can all relate to the Jonathan Taylor Thomas vehicle, I'll Be Home For Christmas. In this episode the guys pick their favorite Christmas songs (Nick's are some only an insane person would pick), they talk about loving cars more than kids, and Stephen drinks a 4 year old beer, with perhaps devastating consequences. So if you're traveling put this short little ditty on and listen up to what could be the worst Christmas podcast you've ever heard.
What do the holidays and meth have in common? They form the perfect Christmas movie, and that film is Christmas with the Kranks. In a Nick and Stephen production (no Kyle... booo) the guys break down the fall of Tim Allen, the rise of Jamie Lee Curtis and a mom sex symbol and capitalism. They rank Christmas traditions, Nick cries (allegedly), and they answer the age old question is Christmas Caroling a legit and normal person activity. So put on your reindeer antlers and chug some egg nog and enjoy their utter confusion on what the hell they just watched.
It’s the “Nice” episode! Or as Nick would say, the Nick episode. Nickvember may have passed us but Nick refused to let it go by without doing Mr. Deeds. A movie that he has seen too many times to count and a movie that Stephen and Kyle will likely never watch again. They rank comedy remakes, Nick constantly quotes the movie unironically, and you can almost hear the tension in Stephen’s voice as he tries to remain calm and collected and not walk off the podcast to never return.
We may have let Nickvember pass us by but we did record one episode during this busy season. The only anniversary that has or will ever matter, the 20 year anniversary of The Boondock Saints. With the help of possibly Irish, definitely funny Cole Kuiper the guys get deep into the weirdest Tarantino not made by Tarantino. The movie that taught us to firefight and pray isn't the movie you remember... but it is definitely, uh, something. The crew talked Boston movies, Irish accents, and of course endlessly about Willem Dafoe being the greatest actor of any generation that has ever existed. It's our Thanksgiving movie, Nick's birthday movie and the only movie that really could have used The Dropkick Murphys.
It's time to end the scary for 2019. And what better way to end then discuss an amazing achievement in pre-9/11 cinema, Scary Movie 2. Poltergeist, The Exorcist, and Nike commercials get skewered and Stephen & Nick decide if it's still culturally relevant TO THIS DAY (spoiler: it's not). Plus we see if the boys can make this fresh and tell us their favorite spoofs that are in the film. Don't be scared off! Roll up a fatty and enjoy the end of Spooktober! Happy Halloween!
Spooktober is fully underway folks, and for episode 66(6) we decided to do Halloween 2 by the podcast's close personal friend Rob Zombie. The guys and Kyle get so deep into Michael Myers they all spoke with pure Shrek accents by the end of this pod. They also rank their top movie pyscho killers (run run away), KYLE GIVES HIS INTENSELY DETAILED JOKER REVIEW, and Nick thinks Harry Potter and Michael Myers have more in common than you think.
